Cotton Pouches Update

Zao has decided to stop providing bamboo pouches with every product.

From the brand's conception, sustainability has been one of its main priorities. The reduction of single-use non-recyclable plastic as well as waste in general is of utmost concern to us. To put it simply, Zero-waste is our goal. Even if it is not possible at the current moment to achieve this completely, we need to strive towards it anyway.

As part of these considerations, we have decided to stop providing bamboo pouches with every product sold. In fact, for 77% of our products, the pouches are not very necessary for reasons other than aesthetics. At the same time, the production of the bamboo pouches themselves requires spending resources, mainly water, and inevitably leads to more CO2 emissions. This decision to cut down the number of pouches will help us to reduce our CO2 emissions by 20%.

However, some of our products do need the pouches for practical purposes. Zao makeup items in fragile glass bottles, such as Liquid Foundation and the Prim family of primers will continue to come with bamboo pouches automatically.

The bamboo pouches will still be available for purchase separately, for customers who need them. They can also be used as re-usable gift wrapping for Zao products. We always encourage our customers to reuse and if necessary, repurposing all our packaging, including the bamboo pouches. So, if you already have some of them, please think of a way to reuse them rather than throwing them away.
